There’s no easy way to figure out who owns a Missouri cannabis license. The state has not released ownership information from applications. In fact the state has fought to keep names secret. Missouri corporation and LLC filings do not require owners or managers to be listed, and in fact creates a different kind of category, “organizer”, which is simply the name and address of the person who filed the paperwork on behalf of the owner, manager, or agent.
So, to better understand the cannabis playing field, Grown In conducted an exhaustive search for information on each license, by comparing organizer names, addresses, reviewing land records at recorder of deeds offices, news articles, and social media accounts. We also applied some of our own background knowledge of cannabis companies and entrepreneurs from other states to make more than a few connections that otherwise would not easily show themselves in public records.
Here is what we found. Not all licensed companies are listed, only the ones on which we could find information.
