Continuing the wave of cannabis facility unionizations across Illinois, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 881 announced last week that workers at Cresco Labs’ Sunnyside dispensary in Champaign voted to organize. The dispensary has 25 workers.
The results of the election will be certified by the National Labor Relations Board later this week, barring objections from Cresco Labs.
In the last year UFCW Local 881 organized a Sunnyside dispensary on Chicago’s North Side, a Windy City Cannabis dispensary owned by Curaleaf, and an Ascend dispensary in Springfield, Illinois. Earlier this month, Teamsters’ Local 777 organized another Ascend dispensary in Chicago.
