Michigan and Illinois passed the $1 billion mark for legal cannabis sales in 2021 during August, a considerable achievement since Michigan didn’t even pass the mark last year, and Illinois barely passed it by December 2020. Meanwhile, Missouri passed the $100 million sales mark for its medical sales in 2021.

Illinois’ cannabis sales have barely grown since March, when Illinois last licensed new dispensaries. Since then the state has been stuck at 110 dispensaries, with almost 200 new licenses stuck in a lawsuit expected to continue this week.
