In recent months Illinois added a number of licensed dispensary locations while many licenses have changed hands. To keep track of who owns what, Grown In created an interactive map of licensed cannabis dispensary locations and their owners.

Built from state corporation ownership records and news reports, this is the most comprehensive list of ownership available to the public. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) maintains a complete list of dispensary owners, including fractional ownership. Grown In requested this data in a Freedom of Information Act request made last month, but IDFPR refused to release that information, since it was collected as part of dispensary applications. State law exempts applications of any kind from FOIA requests.

You can download Grown In’s datafile here using the information we gathered.

Many of the licenses are owned by corporations, in which case we list the managers, as reported on the Illinois LLC records. Most of these are independent dispensaries, but also some dispensaries managed by groups of companies, that have a manager listed that is not the company. The notes below detail those instances.

  • Windy City Cannabis dispensaries and Greenhouse Group dispensaries are operated by the same group, Grassroots Cannabis, a Multi-State Operator (MSO). Steven Weisman, Chief Strategy Officer for Grassroots, is listed as the manager for Windy City Cannabis, while Mitchell Kahn, CEO of Grassroots, is listed as one of the managers of Greenhouse Group.
  • Christine Heck, listed as manager of Consume dispensaries, is also the CEO of the Progressive Treatment Solutions cultivation facility in East St. Louis.
  • Trinity Compassionate Care dispensary in Peoria is partially owned by Larry O’Hern, who is also a partial owner of the Nature’s Grace and Wellness cultivation facility in Vermont, Illinois.

The listed managers of Thrive dispensaries in Anna and Harrisburg are the partners and officers of Marimed, Jon Levine, Tim Shaw, Robert Fireman, Gerald McGraw, Jr, James Griffin, Jr. Marimed is an MSO based in Massachusetts.
