If Illinois cannabis sales continue to grow as much as they did in 2020, by December 2021, dispensaries will be selling $236 million in cannabis a month, a total entirely dependent on the state’s 21 current cultivators’ ability to keep up with demand. Michigan’s dispensary sales more than tripled since January 2020, from $35 million a month to $108 million, and yet earlier this week Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency executive director Andrew Brisbo predicted the state will have a $1.4 billion year in 2021, only about $200 million more than the state’s pace in January.
