Former Kartemquin Films and America to Me producers investigate pot policy

Risé Sanders-Weir, who most recently served as producer for the 2018 America to Me series that ran on Starz and profiled inequities in the Oak Park public school system, is teaming up with former Kartemquin Films director of finance and operations Andrea de Fraga to produce a documentary about pot policy in Illinois.

The two are raising funds to profile in documentary form cannabis entrepreneurs that will be awarded state licenses for craft grow and other cannabis-related initiatives later this year. The focus will be on the specific challenges and opportunities social equity applicants will face as they grow their businesses in uncertain times.

The filmmaking team is collaborating with Gromentum Lab and other industry advocates, organizations and elected officials for access.
