The CRC did not provide an exact date for final authorization, but the executive director said 30 days was a reasonable expectation.
The Botanist has locations in Egg Harbor, Williamstown, and on the boardwalk in Atlantic City.
“They will need a disparity study. By law, they have to complete one in two years. Questions remain whether they will be able to complete that in time.”
The bill would require registered operators to include a reinvestment plan in all future applications and require these companies to defer two percent of their yearly New York profits to the fund the CCRA would establish.
“When we talked about the facility with the city and how we would build it, they wanted us to do tours,” said Cohn. “We’re excited about it. I think we will see much more regional traffic at first, coming into the city for cannabis.”
Using New Jersey as an example, Maryland could be years away from selling the first product in stores.
Etain is New York’s only women-owned and operated cannabis business and one of the first five organizations to receive a medical license. Its four dispensaries are located in Manhattan, Kingston, Syracuse, and Westchester.
“I think if you look at the older demographic and ask if they are in support of legalization, that’s one of the fastest growing age demographics gaining support for legalization.”
The current license awardees are approved on a conditional basis, with annual licenses expected to follow inside of a four-month period.
