Michigan launches program to create new social equity partnerships
This week Michigan regulators are rolling out a program designed to match social equity partners with cannabis companies and investors, an idea incubated through the Marijuana Regulatory Agency’s Racial Equity Advisory Workgroup.
One of a series of Michigander ideas meant to harness the free market for the sake of improving equity in cannabis company ownership, the Joint Venture Partnership Program (JWPP), “will connect eligible social equity participants – and those seeking to become social equity participants – with adult-use licensees, potential adult-use licensees, and any businesses that wish to work with social equity participants interested in pursuing partnerships,” according to the program’s website.
MRA says it has already compiled a list of over 100 people interested in pursuing partnerships.
New women’s cannabis leadership organization launched
A new cannabis business group for women in the cannabis industry, We Are Jaine, is launching today with a new website and an online event this evening.
“JAINE will foster inclusivity, empowerment, advocacy and education through varied networking events, specialized programs and forums, professional development and mentorship, resource and knowledge share, and community-based initiatives,” said a press release.Led by a team of women from St. Louis, Tammy Puyear, CMO of Vertical Cannabis, and Sarah Glasser, a cannabis attorney, are serving as co-Presidents.
