“We got hit last night,” NuMed owner Keith McGinnis told Grown In Sunday afternoon. The dispensary was one of two locations attacked by looters, during protests gone wrong Saturday night. The other location, Sunnyside Dispensary’s newest store in River North suffered “mostly cosmetic” damage, according to Jason Erkes, Cresco Labs’ Chief Communications Officer.
Mission Dispensary’s South Shore location was ransacked and looted Sunday night, said 4Front Holdings president Kris Krane Monday morning. The store was closed early Sunday afternoon.
Video posted on Facebook Sunday night showed a crowd breaking in a roll down door at The Herbal Care Center on Western and Ogden Avenues.
“Thankfully all of our employees were able to leave before anyone broke in, so nobody was harmed or injured. We can rebuild destroyed property and replace lost inventory but the lives and wellbeing of our staff, patients and customers are irreplaceable. So for that we’re grateful. We will rebuild and reopen when we can and will participate in efforts to rebuild our community in the Commercial Ave. corridor.”
NuMed’s Chicago location and Sunnyside’s two Chicago locations remained closed Sunday and Monday.
